Let’s Not Just Help Poor People, Let’s End Poverty

I fully understand when people feel like solving the worldwide poverty problem, it seems overwhelming and maybe impossible. It seems like every time we take a step forward, we take two steps backwards.  It just never seems to get better. Weiss Scholarship Foundation believes that child education sponsorship is a crucial aspect of ameliorating poverty. Here’s how you can sponsor a child’s education in Kenya

Resources Need To Be Used To End Poverty

In my years of doing my work in Kenya I see a lot of money wasted by many organizations.  Also, I have heard over and over from people in Africa that quite often well-meaning people come there and tell them what they are going to do to help them. My African friends tell me that in many cases no one asks them what they need, and resources are spent on projects that do not do anything to help the people who need the help.

There are many projects in the world that help poor people live better lives and live longer, but really do little to erase poverty.  Of course, we must be helping poor people live better and longer, but what we really need is to help them get out of poverty.

Child Education Sponsorship in Kenya and Beyond

It is my belief that we cannot end poverty until we get all children to have at least a high school degree, and hopefully beyond.  This must include the girl child.  Today we make the same statement we have made for many years, that more than half of the children in the world get little to no education. And what I have learned in the last twelve years is that compared to the massive scope of this problem, few resources are being used to change this. Child education sponsorship in Kenya and beyond is critical to helping end poverty.

I have also learned the cost of educating children in third world countries is very low.  We get children a four-year high school education for $3500 which includes all expenses and support services.  It does not take much money.

I have found the biggest obstacle to creating a world where every child gets a great education is most people do not believe it can happen.  So, today I ask you to believe.  We can and must create this kind of a world.  It is the only way we can end poverty and create peace.
