Half of the Children in The World Get Little to No Education!

I am mad as hell and I am no longer going to tolerate a world where more than half of the children in the world get little to no education! Weiss Scholarship Foundation is focused on doing our part through Kenya child sponsorship–improving outcomes and helping offer fundamental education to children.

Genocide, war, crimes against humanity, famine, corruption and on and on.  Sadly, this is a reality of the challenges the world faces.  Now there is no one simple solution to all of this, but there is one thing that would help us be able to eliminate all of it:  education breaks down most barriers!

When more than half of the children in the world get little to no education, that is a breeding ground for trouble.  And the numbers on this never seem to really change.  Why is this and why do we accept it?

While I certainly do not have all the answers, I do think a big part of it is that most people believe it is a problem that is just too big and cannot be solved.  So, when this is what you think you do not even try.  My experience with the Weiss Scholarship Foundation is this is a problem that certainly can be solved.  Partially I say this because in the big scheme of things, it really does not cost that much money.

Money is Not the Issue

We do not have half of the children in the world uneducated because of a lack of money. There is certainly plenty of money.  What we lack is the understanding this can be solved and then the will to solve it.  I believe as we help more people realize this can be solved, we will get more people who have the will to solve it.  When that happens, we quickly make enormous progress.

Part of understanding means that these children not only need financial support to get an education in Africa, but they also need constant mentoring along with social and emotional support. When their parents have little to no education, they are not able to fully support their children.

How to help with a child’s education in Dago, Kenya

So, we CAN and MUST create a world where every child gets a great education in Africa. Education is the only long-term, sustainable solution to poverty. Girls must be included in this as we cannot end poverty unless girls are educated.  Education is the solution to all the other problems. We must confront all the barriers these children face to help them be able to achieve all their HOPES and DREAMS.

Each of us who have been blessed to have a great education, must decide to help others whose only chance at an education is with outside help.  Doing nothing guarantees nothing will change.  We must do something, no matter how small you may think it is.  Do not wait until you are “ready” to help.  Do something today, then something else tomorrow and keep on doing it!
